Why Should You Care?

Ohayo, minasan! Welcome to the inner workings of a pinoy animator's everyday existence in the world of the japanese animation industry, that or some trivial stuff nobody'd give a dang. Let's see if it's all that's cracked up to be, shall we?

Waddaya Wanna Know?

Wang Wang No More!!

No more (abusive)unauthorized use of sirens/blinkers, commony known as "wang-wang", by civilian or even government officials, declares Prez Noy.

Cool, if you ask me. Waiting to see if this is a permanent deal o kung papalag pa mga hinayupak na abusado na gumagamit nito. Let them have a taste of what metro traffic is all about, effing bastards...

But then, I would very much agree with some people regarding security concerns when it comes to the President himself.

Under the law, only the president, the vice president, the heads of the two chambers of parliament, the Supreme Court chief justice, police, military and emergency vehicles can use sirens and drive through red lights.

Much as Noynoy is against the use of sirens from the very start, I don't think it'll be taken against him if his convoy uses it. The law allows him to. Though 'allow' doesn't necessarily mean Noy will give in to his taboo. Hope he lightens up and sees it's only right.

Choto Mate Kudasai...

Haven't bagged a single Elder Dragon yet in my MH game. Kinda odd considering I'm HR5 already. Been picking on 'easy' prey lately( Kutkus, Rathalos...), just because I don't know what direction to go with my game, hehe. Break a leg going up the ranks, or backtrack and try to clean up unchecked quests?....

And yeah, if anyone's asking what ever happened to work , it's precisely that - nothing. Medyo( and I'm putting it lightly) mahina work ngayon, since mid-last year pa in fact. We're now doing layouts for every 10th episode of the HeartCatch series now, as opposed to alternating eps dati. There's a few One Piece work here and there, but nothing much, really. Here's hoping there's still that nice light down the road...

Looking Back at Earth Hour...

March 28, 2009. 8:30 pm. The whole world observed Earth Hour for dear Mother Earth...or at least most of the whole world...

Mabs took pics of that special hour; pics of the candles, pics of Tendou( our pet lab ), and even pics of the kids and their granddad. Should've posted this on the day, kaso bawal nga gumamit ng kuryente( yeah riiiiight....).

Staring at the dancing candle flame, waiting for the hour to elapse so you can get back to your electrically-dependent/digital life...kind of knocks some senses back into you. Can we really do without the things we take for granted now. Do without tv. Cable. Internet. Air-conditioning. You know, the everyday, usual stuff...

Better late than never!

Kamen Rider Hibiki Showing Here! Sugee!!!

My favorite Kamen Rider series makes its way here courtesy of ABC5. I've seen and finished the original japanese run way back pa (even shared the videos sa studio for other afficionados to enjoy), pero it'd be interesting to see the 'tagalized' version.

Ayos din ang network na to, they've been dishing out some very cool shows as of late - toku and anime alike. And importantly: they do very descent subs - i'd say good even! Unlike on other channels where you hear the same sucky voices over and over again. Sana tuloy-tuloy na to sa rider series, as there are a whole lot more out there...

Currently watching the latest nga pala, Kamen Rider Decade. Kuwento ko na lang details about that one later....

Will The REAL Cornelia Please Stand Up??

Yep, talk about bad in-between, folks. There's not even a single pair of drawings here na magkamukha, gademit! And do note that this is a SINGLE scene showing Cornelia(of Code Geass anime) walking from one point to the next...

This kinda thing's not unique or isolated. Crap like this happens way lot, kahit dito sa Toei, especially when deadline pressures are involved. Then again, some employees don't need it as an excuse to 'kitbash' models. Meron talagang 'artistically -challenged' sa drawing skills na napapasok dito, and worse - some assholes just don't freaking care kung tama ang model nila o hindi, because they get paid nonetheless. Hai! The Naked Truth!

Details of this Code Geass article on the SankakuComplex website...

Miyazaki Quotes...

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese Oscar-winning filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki criticized Prime Minister Taro Aso's penchant for "manga" comic books Thursday and said children should spend more time experiencing nature than getting engrossed in video games and TV.

The 67-year-old director of a string of animated blockbusters including this year's "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" was asked what he thought about 68-year-old Aso's much-touted penchant for reading comics, which has gained the premier a following among fellow manga fans.

"It's an embarrassment," Miyazaki said in a rare news conference. "That's something that should be done in private."

A maverick who has stuck to hand-drawn artwork despite the burgeoning digital animation industry, Miyazaki harks back to a more natural, pre-industrial Japan in works such as "Spirited Away," for which he won an Academy Award in 2003.

Miyazaki distanced himself from the "soft power" of video, game and manga content that Aso and other Japanese politicians have tried to harness to boost the country's image.

Aso even launched an international manga award to promote the genre -- a 500 billion yen ($5.2 billion) industry in Japan alone -- around the world.

"This environment surrounding our children is full of virtual reality: television, video games, e-mail, mobile phones and manga," the white-haired Miyazaki said.

"I think this saps children of their strength," he said, adding that he realized his viewpoint was paradoxical, given his choice of vocation.

Miyazaki said he advocated having children learn practical skills such as lighting fires and using knives before they learn to read or count.

"Instead of thinking about how to stimulate demand by creating bridges or roads, we should have the proper environment in place for future generations," he said.

He also spoke of his efforts to train a new generation of young animators. He has chosen 20 young people to start work next year in a training studio away from Tokyo, he said.

...read this article off the cryocopy website. lumang article na, november 2008 pa pero stumbled on it.

yeah, pretty paradoxical nga when you hear him say that, pero he does have a point. the digital age sure brought in a lot of good stuff, but also some bad ones too...

Ponyo: Another Miyazaki Masterpiece

Hayao Miyazaki still has it! Ponyo On The Cliff by The Sea is really amazing. This is what the essence of watching anime is all about: to see drawings come to life before your eyes as they tell a story. With all the new stuff coming out peppered with cg stuff, it's really nice to see Miyazaki go back to the true basics. Read somewhere the man did all the water scenes for the whole movie. The man's obsessed, hehe!
Can't wait for a good sub to come out. i just read off the movie's gist but i'll definitely be getting this so my kids can watch it! ( this is not exactly toei news, but hey, we're talking about the main man here! 'Sides, tons of great stuff outside the shell, so enjoy all of it, di ba? )
